Art-residence of the Museum of Enamel Art Emalis

The Emalis Museum is the only museum in Russia dedicated to enamel art, housing the world’s largest collection of easel paintings created using the hot enamel technique. The Art Residency of the Emalis Enamel Art Museum is a unique venue where your guests can not only discover this rare art form, but also create their own piece using the hot enamel technique. As part of the program, visitors will: – create their own painting or piece of jewelry using the hot enamel technique; – witness the firing process in a muffle furnace at temperatures up to 850°C right before their eyes; – take their finished work with them immediately after the master class. Works created using the hot enamel technique can last for over 2500 years and may become true family heirlooms, passed down from generation to generation. During the guided tour, guests will learn: – why enamel art remained little known in Russia for a long time; – why women historically did not work with hot enamel; – how artworks are created to preserve their color and form for centuries.
