The MHAT Museum was founded on October 27, 1923 on the proposal of Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky. Now the permanent exhibition of the museum is located on the second floor of the theater. You can get to it through the entrance decorated with the famous burl «Floater» sculptor A.S. Golubkina.
Museum exhibition
Originally the museum’s collection consisted of 275 items, and the museum itself was located under the stage. Now in the ICCAT Museum more than 340,000 exhibits. These are documents, models, paintings, costumes, programs, personal belongings of artists, theater relics and much more. The most significant exhibits can be seen at the museum’s permanent exhibition. All of them vividly illustrate the life of the theater for many years - from its foundation in 1898 until the death of Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko in 1943.
