SibirSibir Restaurant – a gastronomic embassy in the very heart of Moscow. The restaurant of renowned Novosibirsk restaurateur Denis Ivanov, called #SIBIRISIBIR, opened in the capital in March 2018 on the first floor of the AZIMUT Hotel Smolenskaya. Seating up to 160 guests, it was Ivanov’s first project of this scale in Moscow. The interior of the city’s #SIBIRISIBIR echoes the original Novosibirsk venue without copying it exactly. Stained-glass windows overlook Smolenskaya Square. Some columns are clad in wooden slats, shawls and lace, while the ceiling features white carved moldings. One wall is painted green and covered in real moss. As in Novosibirsk, there’s a wood-fired oven in the main hall, a display of authentic vintage samovars and a dedicated vodka room. A new feature is the reproduction of the famous mosaic from the Sovetskaya Sibir printing house façade. The menu presents a variety of northern delicacies: homemade pelmeni, moose lips, chir fish, muksun, venison and more. Ivanov describes the concept as “modern and traditional Siberian cuisine,” calling the restaurant “the gastronomic embassy of Siberia.” Recently the venue launched “Sibirsky Gastronom,” offering take-home handmade dumplings and vareniki, pickles, jams, game sausages, candles and other branded merchandise. Over seven years, #SIBIRISIBIR has earned numerous awards and accolades, becoming a must-visit attraction for Moscow’s culinary tourists. The very first #SIBIRISIBIR opened in Novosibirsk at the AZIMUT (formerly “Sibir”) hotel in late 2015 and won the 2016 “Golden Palm Branch” for Best Restaurant Concept in Russia.
