16.12 Day 1
14:45-15:30 | Saneyev & Novikov Hall |
Alongside a compelling program and star participants, a unique venue —ranging from a historical estate to hosting an event in airline — can make an event stand out. This is especially important when working with modern customers, who have become quite difficult to surprise with popular MICE destinations, which, for the most part, offer standard solutions in terms of the event program. However, organizers face additional risks associated with the novelty of the chosen location and a lack of experience working with it. Participants in this case session will share their experiences with unconventional venues.
Topics for discussion:
- Which new or repurposed old venues in BRICS and Global South countries have been the most successful, and what factors contributed to their success? What challenges might arise when adapting an old venue for events?
- How have unique venues helped create new event formats? The experiences of BRICS and Global South countries.
- Can a venue that is too unconventional distract from the content or topic of the event?
- What unexpected advantages and obstacles can arise in a new location during an event?
- Can another country be considered an unconventional venue for MICE events? Experiences from BRICS and the Global South, including Russian practices.
